Focus on a Brighter Future

The Iowa County Humane Society is announcing a change in leadership. Our three managers have left our employment and we thank them for their years of service. The Board of Directors has opened the new position of Executive Director. We are seeking someone with animal shelter experience and expertise to work with the Board to lead the shelter into the future. In the meantime, the Board has appointed an Interim Director to serve until a permanent Executive Director can be hired.

The ICHS shelter is still open for business – we have paid staff and dedicated volunteers who are cleaning and caring for the animals. All of the animals are receiving necessary veterinary care and we are still taking in new animals, returning animals to their owner and adopting animals into new homes. We have also hired a national animal shelter consultant to assist us and give us best practice recommendations for going forward. During this transition of leadership, we ask for patience as we restructure for a bright future.

We thank our many supporters and volunteers! If you can contribute financially, this would be a great time to give to the shelter as we pivot to a new and bright future. We thank you for your support and urge you to share your ideas for improvements that you would like to see us make. Please join us on this journey! We need YOU!

Poor Clementine!  This kitty needs help to feel better. She's a 5-year-old orange sweetie who came to us as a stray, down on her luck.  After seeing the vet for her spay surgery, it was discovered that Clemmie is in desperate need of deep dental cleaning -- the poor dear is suffering.  Can you help with a donation today? These donations will be dedicated to dental treatment.  Let's get this little girl purring again!

Roof BillBoard.jpeg

Urgent Need! The wet spring slowed down farmers, produced flooding, and caused damage to property across the county….including the roof of the Humane Society’s animal shelter. We’ve asked for your help in creating a new outdoor space for our animals, but are now facing a more urgent need. Because of the damage and the age of our roof, it can no longer be patched and must be replaced as soon as possible. We have received bids and are urgently seeking $59,500 for a new animal shelter roof and supporting structures. With your generosity, we can keep our animals well and dry! Can we count on your support? You can donate by clicking here!
